Drake’s radio station became 94.1 The Dog on Aug. 22, 2006.

For six previous years, The Dog was known as KDCS Bulldog Radio, playing Today’s Music with New Music First on closed-circuit campus TV sets and the Web.

Between 1982 and 2000, Drake radio KDRK distributed programming via carrier current technology.

KDRA-LP is licensed to Drake University. A five-member Management Board consisting of two students, two Electronic Media faculty and a Drake Student Life staff member set policy.

94.1 The Dog provides a lab outlet for JMC-067 “Digital Audio.” All Radio-TV Producing and Broadcast News students prepare and host their own programs at least one semester, and they produce public service announcements and other programming continuities.

News students also produce 4-minute news updates for at least two semesters.

Students from across the University volunteer in Drake Broadcasting System (DBS). We broadcast 24/7 and produce entertaining and informative programs, including sports events involving Roosevelt High School and Drake teams. DBS radio staff members manage day-to-day operations of the station, including music selection.
