Ninety-eight percent of businesses in the state of Iowa are labeled small. In retail, over seventeen hundred have less than 20 employees, and that’s just in the Des Moines metro area.

Officials say plans are now in motion to give Forest Avenue a face-lift. Des Moines City leaders have been working on plans to improve the Drake neighborhood for over two years. The goal is to make Forest a more pedestrian-friendly campus area as well as making Dogtown (the area near University and 42nd Street) an entertainment and cultural district. (more…)

This past November, Iowans not only voted for a new Governor but also voted to remove three Iowa Supreme Court Justices. Chief Justice Marsha Ternus, David Baker and Michael Streit were the first justices removed from office under the current retention process that began in 1962. (more…)
