Relays is in sight! Some fans feel like it can’t come soon enough… but some athletes may think Relays arrives too soon.
The Olympic year is also in sight and may be weighing down on athletes’ choice of meets to attend. Some may want to start the season earlier to get more reps in… others won’t start the season until later in order to be fresh to perform on the world stage.
Participating in Relays means an early start to the track season. This factor may be weighing in on hometown hero Lolo Jones, as she still hasn’t announced a decision of whether she is attending or not.
Jones underwent spinal surgery in August, and has been on the road to recovery. Relays Director, Brian Brown, isn’t worried too much about her decision to attend.
In both the 2011 and 2010 Relays, Jones finished in second place. Last year she was also coming off an injury.
Brown says he has every reason to believe relays will be apart of her schedule.
Lolo doesn’t plan to make her decision for another week or even two.
