Behind the Scenes of Endgame

The Theater Department at Drake University is presenting the Samuel Beckett’s production, Endgame.
Both the actors and the stage are ready, and waiting for the public, but they didn’t get that way without a lot of hard work. Stagecraft is a class offered at Drake, where students learn to build intricate stages for plays.
Professor John Pomeroy really enjoys teaching students of all majors how to use tools, most of them have never even seen before.

Before students can use the tools on their own they take a theory course that teaches them techniques and safety.Then, students are required to work in the scene shop a minimum of 5 hours per week, and they say that sometimes it is really hard, but they don’t mind.

The Endgame runs in the Studio Theater in the Fine Arts Center until April 29th. The admission is $5 for adults and $3 for seniors and students with a Drake ID.
