Drake West Village Midnight Breakfast
Deadline Reporting — By M.V.PruettOn Sunday, May 9, The Drake West Village community assistants held a midnight breakfast for weary students.
The breakfast was held in Village Three’s game room, which was packed tight with students looking for some free food and time away from studying. The event proved popular. Although the event was supposed to last from 11:45 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., the food disappeared within 30 minutes.
“It’s a lot busier than I expected,” said Chad Johnson of Ankeny, Ia. “I’m glad some Capri Sun while it was still there.”
Community assistants had a large selection of food available. Two tall tables were loaded with cereals, yogurt, milk (both 2% and chocolate), bagels, fruit and cheese spreads and the most popular item, doughnuts.
“There’s nothing I love more than doughnuts at midnight,” said Drew Brozak of Kansas City, Kan.
The West Village midnight breakfast had some competition for students. Sodexo hosted its bi-yearly midnight breakfast at Hubbell Dining Hall at the same time. One attendee of the former event felt there was really no need to compare.
“This is much better than Hubbell breakfast,” said Samara Silverman of Chicago. “This is a lot more close-knit. It’s easier to spread out and socialize and there’s a better selection of food.”
Aside from free food, the other big draw of the event was a raffle for two “summer fun packs.” One pack was saved to be given out later, but the other was raffled off on the spot. Brozak won the prize that included freezepops, a watergun, popsicle molds, a towel, and a Frisbee.
“Winning this makes living at West Village all worth it,” said Brozak, somewhat facetiously.
Munashe Kaseke, a community assistant in Village Three, said this was the second midnight breakfast they had hosted.
“The goal is to give residents some stress relief, a study break, and some time to socialize. It’s a great way for residents to get to know their CAs in a setting outside the office,” Kaseke said.

I have two people to thank for my win: Chad because he knows how to “shake-it” and Ester, because even though she didn’t want me to win, she did draw my name ;)
Awesome
