Over 1,600 high school students participated this year in the Iowa Mock Trial competition. The students compete against schools from other high schools. Students portray witnesses and attorneys. Lawyers from communities throughout Iowa contribute their time as coaches and judges at the tournament.

Drake University’s student organization SIFE hosted the 2012 Polar Plunge on Feb. 3 at Sleepy Hollow Sports Park in Des Moines. This year the group asked participants to donate $5 to jump.
